Heimtextil is one of the most important annual events in the field of interior textiles and interior design trends, and this year marked the 50th anniversary of the exhibition. The slogan of the exhibition was WHERE I BELONG, advocating for sustainable future design and globalization. The exhibition literally celebrated globalization – mix and diversity of cultures, enriching society, perception, and perspective. RIPO designer Ieva also attended the exhibition and now shares her impressions and conclusions about what she saw and felt.
It is truly impressive how different and unified at the same time are cultures. In addition, a lot of attention was paid to ecological, environmentally friendly solutions and the use of recycled materials in the production of fabrics and wallpapers. The exhibition presented how modern technological solutions can be used to develop different forms and types of sourcing new materials.
The latest trends at the exhibition shows that the nature motives (plants, exotic plants, animals, and bugs) are still on their victory lap. However, the use of flower motives is losing its topicality, being replaced by plants, leaves, and safari motives. The nature patterns in design are accompanied by geometry and sustainable ornaments with direct ties with the topic of globalization. The fabrics have voluminous geometric textures and spatial details. The wallpaper manufacturers highlight not only wallpaper collections with trending motives, but also high-design photo wallpapers. The manufacturers' stands are mostly in pink, rosy, grey, beige and mustard tones, complemented by a variety of saturated tones or accents.
